The design for this pendant arose from the image of a turbulent sea within the central Boulder Opal, combined with the rare sparkling blue of the cultured abalone specimen set above as a storm cloud. Between the cloud and the “sea” below are silver storm clouds, lit within by keumboo application of 23.5 K gold, and lightning bolts of 18K gold. The silver setting for the piece is designed to mimic the shapes of waves in the famous Hokusai Wave woodblock.
